The Gallipolis City School District's staff is making every effort to ensure all students have access to learning, but above all, we want to do so as safely as possible.
Each of our buildings are offering traditional school, with the safety protocols that Superintendent Wright spoke about in an earlier video update. An online option will also be available for students who do not feel comfortable returning to school at this time. The online option for the 2020/2021 school year will provide students the ability to learn from home with parent support. Regardless of your choice, each family must make the decision based on what is best for their children and their family. There is no wrong answer and we respect your decision.
Teachers within the GCSD will assign work related to what is being taught in the classroom and provide feedback to students on their assignments. We understand online learning is new to most and we will provide support whenever possible. To access the online materials, students will use Google Classroom. The district has used Google Suite for many years and most students are familiar with Classroom. Google Classroom is a school friendly platform where teachers, students and parents can communicate digitally. Students will have access to uploaded assignments and be able to submit work directly to their teacher with ease. One important piece- the student will need access to a computer or Chromebook and reliable internet. If the student does not have a computer or Chromebook, the district can provide one to borrow. However, the district does not have the power or resources to provide internet access for those families who do not have it. Some options for access to the internet are school parking lots where Chromebooks can connect to our buildings' WIFI, local businesses who offer free WIFI, and of course our public library.
